soooo its 3 days before my finals
its 3 days before my finals and i have decided to blog again. but this time i decided to do something different. this blog will mainly serve as my picture collection of the korean boy bands i worship (currently being SHINee). fufufu~

first piping job with pastry bag! cream puffs or choux pastry...call it anything u want
sooo i was bored yesterday and had nothing to do...and too lazy to go out etc.etc. of my endless excuses...i went on flickr for random flower pics...and i found a strawberry cream puff pic. it looked sooo good and my sugar craving these days just won't listen to me these days...i decided to look for the recipe...found it...its a fairly easy recipe...so i thought i would make it since i have all the stuff i need in my kitchen.
first step was to make the dough. fairly simple...just boil the butter, salt, sugar, and water and put the flour in...and stir until it becomes a dough that won't stick to the sides of the pan...cook for a few minutes to reduce the moisture in the dough. let it cool down for a couple of minutes. put the cooled dough into the mixer and add eggs (one at a time) there is no instruction on how many eggs i should add...since it really depends on how large the eggs are and how moist the dough is (the drier the dough, the better it absorbs the eggs which in turns puff up more when its baked) i stopped at 4 eggs when the dough felt glossy, heavy and consistent.
here comes the hard part...i've never done any piping with a pastry bag in my life before. i figured ohh it should be easy...its just squeezing the dough from the bag. what i didn't realize was the amount of dough i had made. i figured i would get one tray of puff pastry. but after piping one full baking tray of the dough...i came to a horrible realization that my dough was not even half empty yet -____- my hands were already hurting from holding the pastry bag in certain way for piping. but i can't stop...or else what am i supposed to do with the rest of the dough...i can't just turn it into a cake the next day...the composition is different. so i had to keep piping and piping...it took me over an hour to get 4 trays!!! i piped about 110 mini puff pastries in total (each tray fits about 30 - 35) the puffs came out nicely after 25 minutes in the oven...totally paid off my hard work.
now to the filling!
the recipe calls for pastry cream which needs whipped cream and i don't have at home. i thought i could make my own by using the mixer but i didn't have any heavy cream at home...the only thing i found in the fridge was a box of half and half. so i had to trash that idea and came up with my own filling...i found some cream cheese (regular and peach) so i decided to make cream cheese mousse. whipped up an egg white first then added the cream cheese with some lemon juice along with some sugar...it tasted great! but the texture is not firm enough to pipe into the pastry so i had to leave it in the fridge for about an hour...thennn finally started piping the mousse into the puffs. they were delicious!! would i ever make them again??? maybe i will...depending on how much time i have. cuz this thing took me a whole evening to make. but it was worth the time and effort. it is a dessert after all and no one would say no to it! =P

The only thing that cheers me up today
So I checked my schedule for next week and see what is due on what day...I kinda got depressed cuz I don't know what Im supposed to do for some of my assignments...so I started listen to the song Im in love with on youtube...the full version isn't out yet...so I waited for the official release (March 4th according to Duy) and I found the link to the full version (ripped from the official PV)on youtube with romanization and translation of the original lyric!!! yay meeee ^^ that made me feel so much better. The quality is pretty good (around 7.5 MB) even though its a PV rip.

new semester...new schedule
This is how my finalized schedule looks like
Monday - 8 am to 11 am
Tuesday - 10 am to 6 pm
Wednesday - OFF!
Thursday - 12 pm to 3 pm, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm (yes i know !___!)
Friday - OFF!! :3
So i got nothing to complain about my schedule except for my Thursdays...i mean it already sux enough to go to school in the freezing -10 something degrees weather...i heard the prof takes the entire 3 hours to lecture...which means no getting off early around 9ish...the class will be over exactly at 9:30 pm. !___! i really don't want to go home that late in the cold...it will be around 10:30 by the time i get home >,< but thennn im happy with the 2 days off.

finally got my life back
so i decided to blog again after my finals...i think everyone is done pretty much except for U of T ppl...my last exam was finance 401 which was at 8 in the morning and it was brutal...whoever planned the exam schedule sux in my opinion...i mean who would schedule a finance exam at 8 in the morning??? helloooo? most ppl are not in their sharpest mood at 8 in the morning...let alone u gotta pay attention to choose which numbers to use for the calculations...and they say "ohh this course is hard...it has one of the highest failing rate." im like o___0 if u would be more considerate on the exam schedule...maybe there won't be that many ppl failing? anyway..im done ranting about useless planners at ryerson...since my exam was at 8 in the morning...i stayed up all night studying cuz i wouldn't be able to fall asleep even if i tried to sleep...it took me 2 full days to recover from my lack of sleep this week...im glad its over...now im back to my usual self...watch anime, drama...ohh and i picked up a new hobby...reading manga! right now...im reading Kuroshitsuji and Ouran High School Host Club...i saw the anime version of Ouran high host club a while ago...i thought it was cute...so i picked up on the manga...i think manga is a lot more detailed compare to anime...i plan to pick up Vampire Knight, Skip Beat, and Bleach eventually...i guess this is all for tonight...

so i just learned today that i have one more midterm and 2 individual papers due on the Halloween, PLUS 4 group projects and a presentation due in a week after that...i have no time to rest after my brutal week of 5 midterms...so its either im very out of luck this semester....or whoever plans the midterm schedules sux! i say the later is the culprit !___!
on the bright side...just finished watching ep 1 of gundam 00 season 2 and vampire knight season 2. gundam was very confusing as they introduce new characters and my bad memory doesn't recall how first season ended -,-

Another one of my nonsense translations...
Another one of my nonsense translations...lol.
This is what they call a "postmodern poem". So don't bother if you don't get it.
The Tree that Died from LoneLiness
To the sun that rises and sets yourself...your light is annoying.
I don't want to shine...because I don't want darkness night after night.
Sunlight takes too long to breathe (and just like that)...I was one step too late to see your smile.
The loneliness on my back is calling out your name countless times.
To you who took my love for fun..."Your kisses were the wrong kind of injections." said the tree that died from yearning while dropping its last leaf.
